Disclaimer
RandomGens publishes free generators and the reference information that sits around them. This page sets out the limits of that information, in plain terms, so you know exactly what you are relying on and what you are not.
What the generators are for
Every tool on this site produces an output for ideas, teaching, entertainment and decision-making. A random fruit, a debate motion, a team split, a city, a word: these are prompts and starting points. They are not recommendations tailored to your situation, and no tool on this site knows anything about you.
Accuracy of the data we publish
Numbers on this site come from published sources, named on each page in the Data Sources block. Calorie and nutrition figures come from the USDA FoodData Central database. Species data comes from the IUCN Red List and Animal Diversity Web. Password guidance follows NIST Special Publication 800-63B. We check these on a schedule and date every page with a Last Verified line.
Even so, published data changes, sources revise their figures, and errors get through. Every value on this site is a good average rather than a measurement of the specific thing in front of you. A mango varies by variety and ripeness. A city population is an estimate. If a number matters to a decision with real consequences, verify it at the source before you act on it.
No professional advice
Nothing on RandomGens is professional advice, and specifically:
- Not medical or dietary advice. Calorie counts, health benefits and nutrition notes are general information. If you are managing diabetes, an allergy, an eating disorder or any condition that depends on precise intake, follow the figures your clinician or dietitian gives you.
- Not security advice for your organisation. The password generator produces strong random strings and the guidance follows NIST, but a password is one control among many. It does not replace a security review.
- Not legal, financial or academic advice. Debate motions, generated topics and reference facts are starting points for your own work, not sources you should cite as authoritative in an assessed piece.
- Not veterinary advice. Pet naming guidance is about sound and recall, not animal health.
The barcode generator specifically
The barcode tool encodes the number you type and calculates the check digit. It does not assign, register or validate ownership of a GTIN. UPC and EAN numbers for retail sale must be obtained from GS1 or an authorised source. Printing a barcode here does not give you the right to use that number commercially, and we are not responsible for codes rejected by a retailer.
Generated passwords are never recoverable
Passwords are generated in your browser using the Web Crypto API. They are never transmitted to our server and never stored. We cannot see them, cannot recover them, and cannot help if you close the tab before saving one. Copy it into a password manager immediately.
Advertising disclosure
This site is funded by advertising, primarily Google AdSense. Ads are served by third parties and their presence on a page is not an endorsement by us of the advertiser, the product or the service. We do not control which ads appear. See the Privacy Policy for what advertising cookies collect and how to opt out.
Affiliate disclosure
If a page ever contains an affiliate link, it is disclosed on that page. At the time of writing this site carries no affiliate links. Where a link points to an external reference such as USDA FoodData Central, it is there because it is the source of the data, and we earn nothing from it.
External links
We link to external sources so you can check our figures. Once you follow one you are on a site we do not control, and we are not responsible for its content, accuracy or privacy practices.
Limitation of liability
RandomGens is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Musa Tariq and RandomGens are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on anything published here, including decisions made on the basis of a generated result or a published figure.
Reporting an error
If you find something wrong, email support@randomgens.com with the page and the correction. Errors are fixed quickly and the page verification date is updated when they are. This is the fastest way to improve the site and it is genuinely welcome.
